Book Review: 3 Mistakes of my life
The first book that I ever read was “The 3 Mistakes of my life” by Chetan Bhagat.
Initially it started when I heard a lot of this book on social platforms. Some people say this is good; some said it’s bad.In between these mixed reviews I thought of forming my own opinion by reading this book. Here is my review on this book.
About the Author:
Chetan Bhagat obtained his mechanical engineering degree from IIT Delhi before doing his PGP at IIM Ahmedabad. He began working as an investment banker but resigned after a short time to pursue literature. In addition to three non-fiction publications, he has published 10 novels. In 2004, Five Point Someone, his debut book, was released. The 3 Mistakes of My Life is the third novel written by Chetan Bhagat. The book had a 420,000 original print run when it was released in May 2008.
Book Summary:
The book is a fictional depiction of sentiment, romance, social message, business, life, religion, relations and Cricket.
The story starts with three friends Omi, Govind, and Ish, these are the subject of the tale. Govind's perspective is used to tell the tale, and his three life faults are highlighted. Govind is a genuine Gujarati who wants to succeed in life by starting his own business. Ish is an enthusiastic cricket player who loves to play, coach, and watch the game. Omi, a priest's son, travels with his two pals and doesn't have any ambition. Chetan depicts the journey of these ordinary people and how the worst calamities in Gujarat's history influence their lives in a straightforward yet effective manner. This book also shows you how dreams can be dashed by unforeseen circumstances, but how, with help from those around you, you can rebuild them.
My View on this book:
This work is particularly relevant at a time when people prefer to find reasons to emphasize how different they are than to identify the similarities and unite, which can keep us together and help us achieve our shared objective of growth, peace, and prosperity.
This book makes me think of something my dearest friend in the world once said to me: "Well, he's my dad," which I was reminded of while I read this book. He explained to me that friendship is not what people typically imagine it to be; rather, it is a connection between two individuals who are quite different from one another, like the magnetic pole. Where we learn how to neutralize ourselves and establish a rapport with the other person on equal footing. Even if you don't particularly like or care about them, you may endure them since they represent the one thing you want to keep safe.
The book uses a simple language; which easily connects with Indian Youth and narration is decent. Chetan proves that fabulous vocabulary is not required but a great story telling is enough to win millions of hearts.
“This book stands out to me because Chetan handled a delicate subject in the most pragmatic way possible.”
Take Away:
There may be situations in life where you may face failures. People close to you may cause harm. Still don’t lose yourself, the day will come to you if you are true to yourself.
