INDIAN TRADITIONS:THE SCIENCE BEHIND IT

INDIAN TRADITIONS : THE. SCIENCE BEHIND IT

Indian customs are very important. Amazingly, there is science underlying every tradition. The only requirement is that you explore. Due to ignorance, some people might take it easy on them.

I would like to elaborate the scientific reasons behind our important traditions.

In Olden days they used to wash the entrance of the house with cow dung. Many find this weird and you may laugh at this until the truth is known. It is proven that cow dung and urinalysis have many medicinal properties. It kills harmful bacteria. It even stops the spread of some dreadful airborne diseases. According to Ayurveda, Cow urine is also used in prevention of diseases like cancer.

In the past, our ancestors used to wash hands and legs before entering home. It is actually not followed at present until Corona enters the world. Now we follow the tradition accepting it is a science. For us to follow our traditions no need for any pandemics for us.

Haldi so called turmeric should be used in everyone’s home not because it is sacred but because it is an antibiotic. It is used to cure many diseases, in olden days it is given to kids who are suffering from a cold. A pinch of turmeric in hot milk clears mucus in people. Betel leaves are also used to treat newborns. Just place the leaf on the newborn's head while it's warm to cure cold related issues. That is the reason our ancestors insist on planting those trees / creepers in our houses. They also say a tulsi plant is mandatory to be in the house. It is also not just a tradition.

Tulsi plant has many medicinal properties. Though all plants emit oxygen by taking carbon dioxide, how many of us  know that the tulsi plant emits oxygen for 24hrs and it is one of the best  natural air purifiers in the world. In India that is the reason why the plant is worshipped. Nowadays Basil plant is more seen in the United States and other countries other  than in India.

According to our tradition women apply Kajal to their eyes. Don’t look at it just as a cosmetic product, over 5000 years ago it was proven to have Numerous benefits. It has many therapeutic uses like it prevents eye diseases, it gives a cooling sensation to eyes, prevents itching, cataract, sight disorders etc.,

I also wanted to know the science behind the tradition before it is followed. I think it might be useful to some of you who value our Indian customs.
